Hardness method

2. Image polychromatic method
Sapphire exhibits image features that are small in width and partially overlapping, and another feature is strong dichroism (blue-green or blue-green). Only sapphire has these two characteristics in blue gemstones.
3. Growth ribbon inclusions
Hexagonal growth lines (including parallel growth lines and 120-degree bending growth lines) are prominent features of sapphire, but not every sapphire has a distinct growth line. The rutile rutile inclusions are a sign of natural origin, but Not unique to sapphire. So these two are just auxiliary signs.
